Big Country Arts Celebration 2023

Activities

Art making for kids of all ages, artist talks and tours, dance performances, music performances with a sing-along, barbeque cookout at sunset, and dark sky viewing with a telescope. All activities, including the barbeque cookout, are free. Entrance to the park and parking is free.

SCHEDULE – 2:00-8:00ish. Park gate opens at 1:45.

2:00                 “Paper and marbles” art making with artist Brenda McKinney

2:30-5:00         Kid’s Arts and Crafts table is open with artist Sydney Kuehler.

2:30                 Tour #1 of art park sculpture with dance performances from Brandy Niccolai-Belfi, Amy L. Jennings, and Jean Carrio-Mendez.

3:30                 Benjamin ISD Art Students Exhibition with art teacher Sydney Kuehler.

4:00                 Artifact dig, artist talk and 10-minute Q&A with artist Joshua Goode

4:30                 Landscape photography workshop with artist Josh Niccolai-Belfi. Participants are eligible to compete in a fun Landscape Photography Contest. One winner will be chosen and will receive 2 $25 Apple gift cards.

5:00                 Tour #2 of art park sculpture with dance performances from Brandy Niccolai-Belfi, Amy L. Jennings, and Jean Carrio-Mendez.

6:00                 Barbeque cookout (pulled pork and Meati veggie steaks), plus chips and a drink.

6:30                 Live music and a singalong with musicians Linda Jilek and Carl Johnson

6:45                 Sunset – Workshop photographers can have their photo included in a slide show.

7:00- 8:00ish   Dark Sky Viewing with Alex Vukasin and his Celestron EdgeHD 11” telescope.

The event is over at 8:00 or maybe until the sun comes up.
